The Brief
The client had recently purchased some land at the rear of the existing garden and wanted easier access to this land and the oil tank. In order to achieve this a large area of the garden needed to be re-landscaped.
The client wanted a new nature pond with a stream, a new patio area, camouflage for the existing cesspit and new borders filled with shrubs, grasses and perennials. The existing garden afforded wonderful views across the Dove Valley and these were to be retained.
Designer’s Solution
The existing pond was completely removed to make way for the new driveway. In turn, this new driveway provides access to the recently purchased land and off-road parking adjacent to the oil tank. A new large nature pond and stream were built in another area of the garden.
The cesspit was hidden underneath a patio made from decking and an inbuilt trap door makes for easy access to the cesspit. The patio was reshaped and laid with Golden Honey Limestone, as were the new paths around a new raised bed. The garden was planted with a mix of shrubs, perennials and grasses. Planting around the pond consists of native British pond plants. The hedge surrounding the garden has been lowered to give uninterrupted views across the valley.
