The Brief
The clients wanted a low maintenance, dog-friendly courtyard. The garden was in a conservation area so the outbuilding and walls had to remain. More privacy was desired within the courtyard, which was to be used for sitting and relaxing. Some plants were required.
Designer’s Solution
The grass was fully removed and a new double circular paving design was laid. Ropes were fixed in swags across posts to give extra privacy at the back of the garden. Raised, dog-proof beds were built for the planting. Scented climbers such as roses and honeysuckle were planted along the ropes, whilst the raised beds were planted with a variety of shrubs and perennials.
