A beautifully designed garden is one that works for you.

I love all gardens, and enjoy designing in any style, for any shape and size of garden. It’s a pleasure for me to have the opportunity to work in so many different gardens, and indulge my passion for design across such a breadth of styles. I like working with people to create everything from traditional Cottage Gardens to striking Contemporary Living Spaces.

There are five key stages in the Garden Design Process:

Initial consultation and proposal

We talk about what you would like your garden to look like. We show you examples of similar gardens we have worked on and from there, we explain the process of creating a garden you will love.

The investment in garden design can transform your outdoor space into a stunning oasis, with costs varying based on the garden's size, design complexity, and material choices. Typically, you can anticipate spending between £1,500 and £6,000 for expert garden design services, ensuring a beautiful and personalised result that enhances the value and enjoyment of your home.

After the Initial Consultation, Jo will send you a project outline and fee proposal.

Client brief

When the project outline and fee proposal have been agreed, and the deposit paid, Jo will visit you and your garden again, to complete a detailed client brief with you. Based on our own specially designed questionnaire, this will include:

Understanding who will use your garden and how - people, pets and wildlife.
Your local environment, climate and soil type.
Practical requirements for your garden such as step-free access, and the level of ongoing maintenance.
Styling - modern, traditional, or utterly unique to you.
Specifics about usage, privacy, colours, textures, scents and structure.
Agreement of timescales

Site survey

This includes a level survey if required, photography and a site analysis. If the site is large or very steep, we will bring in an expert surveyor to assist. At this stage Jo will confirm with you that we have all your requirements to enable us to undertake a Draft Design.

Draft design

Jo will develop a Draft Design, bringing all our ideas and discussions together. Jo will present the Draft Design to you in person, with moodboards of ideas and 3D perspectives to give a sense of what your new garden will look like. At this stage, or between this stage and the Final Design, we will discuss and agree elements such as paving, gravel or other materials used for the hard landscaping; screening, borders, fences and panels; focus areas such as water features or arches.

Final design

Jo will create the Final Design based on the agreed Draft Design and any further conversations about specific details. Jo will send you a final plan, including Technical Drawings (if required) and Specifications - everything you need to have your garden dreams brought to life by your chosen landscaper.

The next step is to contact landscapers - I can suggest some that I have worked with.
To bring the garden to life Jo can chat to you about the plants for your garden.
