Planting Design can be undertaken as part of a full Garden Design project or as a standalone piece of work.
It could cover:
Planting design for a new garden after garden design and hard landscaping have been completed
Creation of new borders
Re-designing and planting existing borders
Choosing and siting statement trees or shrubs
Creating areas of focus
Year round colour
Planting for wildlife
Planting to screen less than lovely areas - perhaps working or unsightly parts of the garden, or nearby structures or buildings.
Planning the planting
After the Initial Consultation, we will give you a cost for planning the planting.
This will include:
Meeting with you to discuss in detail what you want from your garden, including the level of gardening you want to be doing, how much maintenance you want and whether you will be employing a gardener. We’ll discuss the type of plants you would like and what you want the finished garden to look like taking into account the seasons, the soil type, the amount of sun the borders receive and whether it’s sheltered or exposed. We will show you examples of borders we have already created. We will discuss and agree a budget with you - this will affect the size and maturity of the plants that can be sourced, and the extent of work such as creation of new borders.
Establishing what plants will be suitable.
Provide you with a Plant Choices Moodboard.
Sometimes the above information may be all that you need, however we also provide a full Planting Plan service which can be done before or after the garden is planted.
You can take advantage of our Planting Installation services so we can take care of all of the planting for you.
After the Initial Consultation, we will meet you to discuss in detail what you want from your garden, including the level of gardening you want to be doing, how much maintenance you want and whether you will be employing a gardener.
Once you give the go ahead, we will plan the borders and you will receive a Planting Plan, which can include full Latin names of the plants labeled on it. This will give your chosen Planting expert everything they need to turn the plan into reality - or, as part of our Planting Installation services we can arrange for the planting to take place for you.
Planting Plans
As an extra service, we can produce a full planting plan with all the Latin names of the plants labeled on it. We produce a final copy of this after the planting has been completed.
The advantages of a planting plan
Identify plants and their position in the border. Allows you to care for the plants correctly. Discuss the plants with your gardener and arrange the correct maintenance regime.
